Worship at St Andrew’s follows the Anglican tradition, and is supported by a number of talented and dedicated musicians. On most Sunday mornings, our music is led by an experienced robed choir and accompanied on the organ. On the first Sunday of each month, there is a more informal service - Worship for All - at which the music is led by our Music Group of singers and instrumentalists.
Since 2007, we have held a series of concerts on five consecutive Sunday afternoons every spring and autumn; these have become a regular feature not only of our Church calendar but also of Ipswich’s musical life. A wide variety of music is performed by soloists, instrumental ensembles and choirs, and young local talent is encouraged wherever possible. There is usually an organ recital in each series.
Other occasional concerts take place throughout the year, and some of these have featured performers of national and international stature as well as local choirs such as Ipswich Chamber Choir and Gippeswyk Singers.
Overall responsibility for this programme of music is vested in the Organist and Director of Music, in consultation with the Church’s Music and Organ Panel and PCC.
